Does a mediator typically charge as much as a lawyer, or does it depend on their other credentials?
Amy Zylman Shimalla’s Answer:
I would suggest it depends on their credentials. An experienced mediator is going to help the parties settle their case in a more expeditious way. The hourly rate might be higher than that of the less experienced mediator, but they are likely to be far more effective. This saves the parties greatly in the long run. A good mediator saves the parties money, time and collateral damage by way of the emotional impact of the divorce on their family.
