Is a collaborative divorce generally less expensive than litigation?
Amy Zylman Shimalla’s Answer:
A collaborative divorce is generally less expensive because each meeting is scheduled with a set agenda and a great deal is accomplished at every meeting. There is no wasted time. By contrast, one motion before the court can cost over $5,000 for each party. Likewise, court appearances such as case management conferences and intensive settlement conferences cost thousands of dollars per appearance, and very often little is accomplished.
